• Jan. 1 - 31: Project FeederWatch continues
• Jan. 3 - 4: Quadrantid Meteor Shower - See up to 60 falling meteors per hour!
• Jan. 3: Full (Wolf or Old) Super Moon; Jan. 18: New moon
• Watch for unusual birds at your feeders: Pine Siskins, Redpolls, American Tree Sparrows, Evening or Pine Grosbeaks!
• Now through late March is difficult for birds; providing food and an open source of water is very important
• Cardinals flocking; they’re usually the first and last birds each day seen at feeders
• Take a ride along the Niagara River for viewing bald Eagles, ducks, swans, and gulls
• During late January or early February, Great Horned Owls will be sitting on their eggs
• Squirrel mating season
• White-tailed Deer Bucks are shedding their antlers
• Late in the month, as days lengthen, Tufted Titmice begin to sing!
• Look for hawks such as Red-tailed, Coopers and Sharp-shinned in your backyard.
