• March 9: Daylight Savings Time - "spring forward"
• March 14: Full "Worm" or "Sap" Moon; March 29: New Moon
• March 17: Danielle's Birthday! (St Patrick's day)
• March 20: Vernal Equinox - equal amounts of day and night
• Cardinals singing and choosing territories
• House Finches & Mourning Doves are singing
• Woodpeckers establishing territories by drumming
• Woodchucks emerge from hibernation
• Male skunks wander, searching for mates
• Hawk migration begins mid-month (sooner if weather permits). Watch for Turkey Vultures, Red-tailed, Red-shouldered, Sharp-shinned, Cooper Hawks, American Kestrels, Merlin, Peregrine Falcons, Eagles, Ospreys and Harriers (Broad-winged Hawks about April 9th)
• Watch for ducks, grebes, and mergansers on lakes and ponds
• Bluebirds return; have your houses ready
• Woodcocks doing courtship flights
• Tundra Swans fly over in white V-formations
• Goldfinches begin to molt into their brilliant yellow plumage
• Listen to the morning chorus of bird songs.
